When I arrived in this foreign country, with no relatives and only a handful of friends, Gigi Ricarse together with his kind-hearted husband Roy Ricarse knocked on our door and gave us blankets, clothes, jackets, (just to mention a few) to make sure that we will stay safely warm on our first week in Canada. I never expected this from a woman whom I barely know. But when she came in our house that day, I saw in her eyes that she will be there for us, as we take on this new journey and a new challenge, and that I should not fear. And what I saw in her eyes that day were indeed true. She would often call me and check on me if we are adjusting alright, share with us articles to help us prepare with our new life in Canada, invite us for picnics to gain new friends and see the beauty of nature. At times when I am disheartened, her smile and hug is a comfort. At times when I am confused, she warmly explains and make me visualize a rewarding and bright future is ahead of us. I am just one of the many new immigrants that Gigi voluntarily helps. And her acts of kindness seek nothing in return. I am pleased to see her in Pinoy newspapers here, recognizing her selfless efforts and noble causes. Gigi, thank you very much for all that you have done. Your beauty (inside and out,) wisdom, faith, and service to others are indeed an inspiration. I know God will give you the desires of your heart because you have lived a life in accordance to his desires. God Bless you and Roy!
